Research and Development
USANA's scientific staff includes experts on human nutrition, cellular biology, biochemistry, natural product chemistry, and clinical research. Scientific results from a variety of sources including world-renowned scientific literature, in-house laboratory research, and cooperative clinical studies are incorporated into product development and design.
USANA's comprehensive approach to product development guarantees nutritional formulas that are complete, balanced, safe, and effective. The potencies of individual ingredients are based not on Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs), but on the advanced intakes shown in clinical and epidemiological research to maintain optimal health.
 
Manufacturing
Poor manufacturing can destroy great science. For this reason, USANA Health Sciences manufactures many of its own products. To ensure that the formulas we develop in our laboratories are produced consistently for our customers, USANA meets Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for pharmaceutical-grade products.

Every step of manufacturing, from raw ingredient purchase through finished product testing, is driven by USANA's commitment to quality. We do this to assure our customers that what is on the label are actually in every tablet. This guarantee is written on every bottle.

Quality Control
To adhere to the GMP standards, USANA tests the raw ingredients, tests the product during manufacturing, and tests everything once again before it goes out the door. USANA's quality assurance team keeps track of every excruciating detail, from the elaborate testing and evaluation of raw materials, to what happens to the products during shipping and storage.

To ensure that the formulas developed in USANA's laboratories are produced consistently, the same process is followed each time manufacturing begins. When raw ingredients first arrive at USANA, they are immediately quarantined until they are tested for purity, potency and quality. If an ingredient fails to meet set standards, it is rejected and returned to the supplier.

As the tablets are being manufactured, they are tested routinely for hardness, thickness and uniform weight. An inappropriate thickness can indicate an imbalance in ingredients, just as a slight variance in compression can result in tablets being too hard to disintegrate in the stomach, or too soft, causing them to break apart in the bottle. Each step in the quality assurance process is accompanied by a written, detailed procedure.
 
 
 
Inferior manufacturing can destroy even the greatest product formulations. For this reason, not only does USANA Health Sciences manufacture its own nutritional supplements, the company also voluntarily meets pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The standards for pharmaceutical GMP are far more stringent than the food GMP requirements set by the U.S. government for supplements.
To adhere to the exacting standards of pharmaceutical GMP, and to ensure the quality of every product manufactured, USANA tests the raw ingredients before they are mixed, the product during manufacturing, and for a final time before anything is sent to the customer. USANA's Quality Assurance team keeps track of every detail, from testing and evaluation of raw materials, to what happens to the products during shipping and storage.

$85,000 is the average annual income for established, full-time USANA Associates. $23,300 is the average annual income for Associates who earn as little as one commission check a month. Total includes all earnings from the compensation plan, Leadership Bonus, and contests and incentives. Calculations based on earnings between February 2008 and January 2009. To be considered in a rank's earnings, Associates must have earned checks at a median rank for at least 16 weeks. According to results from an in-house survey taken between 2004 and 2006, the primary reason 17% of USANA independent business owners join the company is to improve their financial future. 21% of that group earns a check at least once a month. Of those whose primary reason is to earn enough to replace a full-time income, 41% have been Associates for at least one year and 56% are full-time Gold Directors and above. The number of Gold Directors and above who have maxed at least 1 Business Center during the year equals less than 1% of all Associates. Those earning as little as one check a month equal approximately 3% of all Associates. The average annual income for all 158,934 USANA Associates, including those who are brand new or who are not actively building a business, is $618.55, with nearly one in three earning a check. To date, USANA has more than 130 Million Dollar Club members.
